Your Guide

Your Guide and Blackwater Cats owner Donovan Pearase will be the man leading you to the fish. Donovan has spent the majority of his 35 years following his love of fishing and most of those years in a tireless pursuit of monster Red River Channel Catfish. Donovan is a serious catman and expert catfish guide with years of experience catfishing  the Red River throughout the seasons. Donovan goes the extra mile to ensure a great day on the water. From netting suckers in early spring to catching goldeye through the summer, and capturing a variety of other seasonal bait preferences he always has a variety of fresh, and not so fresh catfish bait on hand to lure the kitties. After a day on the water with Donovan as your catfish guide you will have a new respect for catfishing and will have learned a thing or two about channel catfish.

Although catfishing is by far his specialty, as soon as the water starts to cool he’s chasing down trophy Lake Winnipeg Greenback walleye. From early fall until freeze up Donovan is on the Red River and Winnipeg River either as a walleye guide putting clients on tremendous catches of greenback walleye or as a tournament angler fishing the Fall greenback walleye tournaments out of Pine Falls. This continues right through the winter as Blackwater Cats - Ice Eye's searching for trophy greenback walleye on the vast expanse of Lake Winnipeg's south basin.

Besides his local expertise Donovan worked several seasons as a walleye guide at various lodges on Lake of the Woods, Ontario. He is a member of several local fishing clubs, past president of the Walleye Anglers Association of Manitoba (WAAM), and an avid tournament angler fishing a number of competitive fishing tournaments each year.

As a catfish guide or a Walleye guide with Donovan leading you to the fish you will be ensured a great day on the water with an experienced guide who is passionate about fishing and gets as much enjoyment out of watching his guests catch fish as he does catching them himself.
